Two measures, never combined

Number one for the month. Dominant at breakfast. Two different measures, both first.

An agency with BARB access will check, so the site says exactly what each figure measures. Both are strong. Neither pretends to be the other.

Measure one · the full month, all-day average views
No.1

August 2026, mean all-day average views across every day of the month on BARB's overnights: GB News 81,439, BBC News 69,865, Sky News 65,674. That is 17 per cent clear of BBC News and 24 per cent clear of Sky News, ahead of Sky News on 30 of 31 days. It is the fourth month running ahead of both; May and June are official BARB monthly reads (June: 86,570 against 73,677 and 68,983). A run, not a good day.

BARB, official monthly reads and daily overnights, all-day average views, 2026
Measure two · breakfast daypart only
3.1× BBC News

Weekday breakfast in June averaged 104,636: 43 per cent ahead of Sky News and 3.1 times the BBC News audience in the same slot. The daypart that won Best News Programme at the TRIC Awards four years running, in a public vote.

BARB, weekday breakfast daypart 06:00 to 09:29, June 2026
These two figures measure different things: one is a full-month, all-day average, the other a single daypart. They are never combined into one claim. Weekday prime time, a third measure, ran 62 per cent ahead of Sky News in June.

Radio · weekly reach, quarterlyA record quarter for GB News Radio

The established commercial networks are still larger in absolute reach. The GB News Radio story is growth: 731,000 weekly reach in Q2 2026, a record, up 34 per cent year on year and 130 per cent over three years. Listening hours reached 5.4 million, up 78 per cent year on year. Source: RAJAR, Q2 2026.

Incrementality

Not the audience you already pay for.

The planning question is duplication. On TGI cross-viewing, most GB News viewers never watch the comparable channels at all. BARB's consolidated currency, on a stricter test (fewer than three contacts a week rather than none), tells the same story: most regular GB News viewers are barely reached by the channels agencies already buy.

Cross-viewingNever watch Sky News

Cross-viewingNever watch Good Morning Britain

Duplication on the trading currency · BARB C7 consolidated, June 2026 analysisBarely reached by the channels already on the plan

Even counting every ITV channel and ITVX on a television set, 48 per cent of regular GB News viewers see the ITV family fewer than three times a week. Barely reached means fewer than three contacts, not none, and this C7 analysis uses a different base from the never-watch charts above, so the two are never combined. A planner buying ITV1, Channel 4 and Sky News still reaches most regular GB News viewers fewer than three times a week, below most effective-frequency thresholds. That is not substitute reach. It is reach the plan does not have.

Audience composition · GB TGI 2026

Who watches: the quiet surprises.

Three findings from the industry's single-source survey that run against the caricature. Claimed weekly viewing from GB TGI, a different currency from BARB, never mixed with it in one chart.

The weaker figures are here too, because a planner with a TGI licence will find them anyway. Sky News is stronger at the very top of the scale (Grade A index 132 against GB News's 107), and 35 to 44s are GB News's soft spot at index 77. What no other rolling news channel offers is above-average delivery at both ends of the social scale at meaningful volume, with the top grade watching more than the average adult does.

Unique visitors and page views are different measures and are never swapped for one another. Platform figures are reported the way each platform measures itself.
